Found an iphone and my mom caught me?

I recently found an iphone on the floor, and no one called for weeks, so i decided to reset it, but now my mom found it and she s extremely mad with me, and when she asked me who's phone this is, i panicked and i said that my friend found it and now she wants to meet with his parents. What should i do?

The minute you found the phone, the right thing to do would have been to call a number from that phone and let them know you had it instead of resetting it.

You should just tell your mom the truth and maybe you guys could find a way to get the phone back to its owner.

The first thing to do is Tell The Truth.

No matter how much it hurts,
it will hurt less than doing otherwise.

Just tell your mom the truth.

Looks like you got yourself in a rut. Best tell her that you found the phone and a friend didn't give it to you, cause if not going to your friends house is gonna cause a major conflict

Say you found the phone and you want too keep it

Definitely a troll question. You can't use an iPhone by "resetting" it. Once locked, there's nothing you can do to use it unless you have the password and no phone company will assign it a telephone number or add it to an account unless the real owner transfers the ownership to the new owner via their Apple account. Even if it isn't reported to the phone company (which is the same as using iCloud to shut it off.) the second the phone shuts off (due to inactivity, or a dead battery) it requires the password to be restarted. (Unless it is an iOS 6 or earlier, which by default doesn't use a password for a restart unless you set that feature in "settings". (iOS 6 or earlier would be a 3GS model or older.) Even my old 3GS could be reset, but never registered with a phone company as it is registered in my name to my Apple account. A quick opening of my iCloud account and I can shut it down and erase it completely so that it would become only a paper weight.)

Of course having it in your possession is the same as if you had stolen it. Confess to your mom and then she can take it to an Apple store, or the phone company and turn it in as a "found" iPhone with no criminal charges placed on you. Not turn it in and have someone track it down and you will find that she will be much angrier when you call her from jail.
