Having an iPhone message problem why won't tey receive them?

I've sent messages to a friend and they haven't received them and on my phone it says delivered and weird thing halfway up our last convo it says read and then below that it just says delievered and they haven't received them? Any idea why?

We have a damaged iPhone that is basically now used as a music player at home, but sometimes, though not an active phone, it gets messages intended for the other current iPhone. Something like that may be occurring.

  • Why won't my 5c send a message as MMS when it's a long message to a non iPhone user? Whenever I type a LONG message to an SMS user (says Text Message in the messaging "box") my 5c won't convert to MMS and the recipient gets the message in dozens of out of order messages instead of the whole fluid message. I have MMS on in Settings. What can I do and why is it doing this?
  • Why is my iPhone not notifying me as soon as I receive a message? I'm not good at explaining but what I mean is like sometimes I get a text and it says it's been received like 35 minutes ago but it's only just come through on my phone… Anyone know why or what I can do to stop it? It doesn't happen all the time but it's been happening quite a bit the past few days and I'm not sure why but it's annoying because people think I'm ignoring them or they worry!
  • Why don't I receive alerts or a notification when I receive a text and I already checked my settings? I adjusted my setting and even put the ringer and notifications on and put the volume and ringer on and I receive no alert, no pop up, alert or notification when someone texts me. Why? This is the iPhone X! I went to the cell phone/ carrier store and they didn't help me. They said to go to the apple store or check the settings. I already adjusted the settings. So what do I do now?
  • Why can't I send/receive photos via text message on my iPhone? I have an iPhone 4S, which I bought unlocked and I use Straight Talk. I can't receive or send photos to contacts that don't have iPhones. Can anyone tell me why this is, and help me get it working?
