It won't cover theft, loss, or accidental damage like yours.

Your damage is due to accidental contact with an acidic sugary liquid. Unless you have additional insurance against accidental damage you're going to have to pay the entire cost of repair (or more likely total replacement) yourself. Liquid damage is usually a device killer. Add acid and sugary residues and it's probably a confirmed kill.

If you have insurance then your insurer replaces it on a like with like basis or the nearest equivalent, and if unavailable they may choose to offer a cash settlement so you can buy a used replacement. There's normally a "policy excess" to deter minor claims and to reduce insurance costs. That's usually about £100 which means that you pay the first £100 of any claim. So if the phone is repairable and the repair bill is £110, they pay just £10 towards repairs. If the phone is beyond economic repair and needs replacement they send you a replacement after you pay them £100 or if the phone is worth £400 and they decide to send you cash they'll send you £300. Warranties cover manufacturing defects. I would let it dry out, and if it still doesn't work send it off to get fixed, and they should do it for free.

  • Water spilt on iPhone? Will it turn back on? So I didn't realize there was water in my phone till after I plugged it in (it was dying) and I made the mistake of turning it on and playing with it. Then the screen was stuck (like when there's droplets of water on the screen) and it was left on headphones mode. That s when I put it in a bag of rice but IIm still scared that the circuit might be fried or something because I plugged it in.
  • Spilt ice cream in my iPhone? I was eating an ice cream cone and it dropped into the ear piece of my iPhone. Now when I try to call someone I can barely hear them through the ear piece even when the volume is turned up all the way. I don't know what I should do? I've already dropped my iPhone in water and everything and it still works I put it in rice. But any suggestions or should I just go try to get it fixed?
  • I spilled Coca-Cola on my Iphone? - 1 I cleaned it with windex, a damp cloth, pretty much everything I can think of, and most of the spots are gone, but the touch screen won't work! Overtime, do you think it will work if I let it sit for a while?
  • My IPhone got liquid spilt on it whilst charging? I didn't know and when I unhooked it this morning, the charger smelt burnt and sparked. The bit on the phone where the charger plugs in smells burnt. Is my phone beyond rescuing?
