Port forwarding on 2wire router
I'm having trouble port forwarding for an app called iVigilo (It's turns an iphone/ipod into a wireless ip camera, it has settings for port forwarding also) On the computer in my router settings, under firewall I added an application for it (but it didn't work):
Application profile name: iVigilo
Protocol: TCP
Port or Range: 80 to 80
Protocol Timeout: 86400 Default
Application Type: FTP
What do I have to do to get the camera t owork outside my network?
Great so you opened the port. Now where does the port get forwarded to? What is the host device and the LAN IP
Set up remote access to your computer
Port 80 is for web browsing, which may be correct. FTP is usually port 21, something different…
You need to make sure your iphone/ipod is at a static LAN IP address in the house before you can forward to it - you need to know what IP it is at all the time for it to work.
- Why port forwarding on port 80? I have a foscam home security camera and it needs port forwarding on port 80 if I want to use my iphone to view it from outside. Surely enough, it works as soon as I open that port. But isn't port 80 open by default? Else how could I view http websites in the first place. I don't get it. It's already open so why open it again?
- What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
- Text message forwarding option not available? I'm trying to sync my mac and my iphone together so that i can get messages on both, but the text message forwarding isn't available on my iphone. They're both completely up to date, and they're both signed in to the same icloud account. I don't understand why i can't sync them up.
- My At&t 2wire router is very slow? The average speed of the router is only 30 mbps and sometimes, the speed drops below 20 mbps. At that point, I can do almost nothing online. I get this message all the time that says the router "broadband link error" and after a minute or so, it tells me I have to close all tabs and reopen internet explorer because the problem is fixed. I know these devices are being very slow: Iphone 3, 4, 4s, ipod 3rd gen Macintosh (Not sure of the model) Dell inspiron laptop
