Okay first, know this when your iPhone is in recovery mode their is no way of retrieving the data on your iPhone.
Now to put it back to normal.
Push the sleep button and home button till the logo appear then when it does let go of the sleep button and keep pushing the home button. Your iPhone will enter DFU mode I think. But anyways open up iTunes and you will see a button saying recover but when you press it you will loose all data. But after you press it it will go back to normal.
Or if your iPhone is jailbroken then reboot your iPhone like you do above but after the logo appears keep pushing the up volume button. It will put your iPhone into a safe mode where you can connect to your computer and rejailbreak.
