Hoe to delete documents and data on iPhone 4s?

I looked through the apple forums on this subject but they were confusing and didn't help much, I still have an extra 5 GB that are being taken up by "documents and data" and "other". I've already tried deleting and redownloading my most used apps, deleting almost all of my texts, and restoring my phone from computer backup. Any other options?

"Other" holds things like system software, contacts, Messages data, settings and things that are not listed elsewhere in the capacities list. If you want to know how to delete the "other" files, this step by step guide will help you a lot.
