Honda civic stereo upgrade. Will this work?
I have a 60 watt factory CD/stereo in my Honda Civic. I want to add a 500 watt amp to the factory stereo and just swap out the factory speakers with the same size speakers but better quality ones.
More importantly, i want to add a cable to play my IPhone music and Pandora and XM app through my car speakers.
Anything tips and info/input will be great.
Thanks!
PS- I want to keep my factory CD player so if a robber looks into my car he will not see anything worth stealing.
Sounds pointless if you're keeping the stock head unit but it depends on what year your Civic is and/or what amps you buy. I would just buy a decent aftermarket head unit/radio, it'll be so much easier if you want to use amps. Plus, aftermarket head units usually sound 5 times better than the stock. If you have a newer Civic, you to dismantle half of the dash just to unbolt the radio. Thieves don't want a radio thats gonna take a long time to steal and you'll have to bolt the aftermarket one in too. If you have a tv in there, it MIGHT be worth the extra time though.
The stock radio w/external amp and new speakers is a common upgrade and will improve your sound significantly. You will either need an amp with hi/speaker level inputs or a line output converter.
The aux in feature may be a problem. I'm not sure what your options would be there.
You may want to look for a civic specific forum and see what they've come up with for your year/model.
- Will this Pioneer head unit fit in my 2005 Honda Civic EX? I just bought a 2005 Honda Civic EX as my first car and wanted to get a better set up where I could hook my iPhone up to. I was looking at this Pioneer head unit and was wondering if it would fit in the car. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-X6500BT If it would fit, how much would it cost to install? I'm 16 and can't install it myself unfortunately, so I would need to pay somebody to do it.
- Playing music from iPhone in my honda civic? I just bought a new car - 09 plate honda civic EX and want to use my phone to play music through the car stereo? There's no jack input though - does anyone know what options I have to make it work? (Other than those crappy fm tuners that you put in the bottom of your phone coz they're very temperamental)
- Iphone 4 bluetooth and honda civic 2007? So i have an iphone and i recently bought a honda civic 2007.
