How do eBay scams work and how do scammers get away with it?
I recently bought a brand new 300 dollar iPhone 5s unlocked (I know to good to be true but bare with me) since I had been looking for one with a good price as soon as I saw this I bought it because of the excitement and because I didn't want anyone to get it before me. After this I realized it was a mistake (seller had no feedback/history)and it was proven to me when the seller "forgot" to take pictures before shipping and failed to provide a correct tracking number. Now I have to wait 9 days to report this, since 9 days was the estimated arrival, To file a case and get my money back.Since this is obviously a scam what is the scammers point of this? How do they get away with this or do they get away? I paid through paypal and With my selling experience I remembered not being able to receive the money unless getting good feedback from the buyer? Please someone explain this to me.
I'm guessing the scammer will do this dozens of times. If a buyer pays via pay pal then they have to refund. But if they pay via another way then they keep the money.
The sellers set up a Paypal account with a fake name and linked to a prepaid credit card so Paypal has no way to collect the money from them
Because people do not follow the follow the guidelines you ignored. Buyers also forget the basic rule, If it looks too good to be true then it is.
They won't get away with this, paypal holds their money until they get their feedback lol

- How to keep scammers away from bidding/buying on ebay? I'm trying to sell an iPhone on eBay. Keep getting scammer bidding or buying the product and not paying for it. They keep asking me for my PayPal email address. I told them to pay it with the Pay Now button, then they never pay or respond. I keep having to open unpaid item case and keep having to relist the phone. How do I keep away these people, so legitimate buyers can bid on it?
