How do I convince my parents to get the new iPhone this year for my birthday?

As long as you have a phone which works okay, you don't need an expensive new one.
When you can earn your own money, and can save up, that's when you can waste your money on some fancy phone.

What I did instead of trying to "convince" my parents to buy me something was to work with my dad fixing cars until I saved enough money to buy what I wanted.

But you can always ask them what you can do to "convince" them.

You don't.

Why don't you save up your money and buy one?

Slip your old man $1000. That ought to do it.

Do you deserve a new phone? Do you help your parents with chores etc., you can answer your question.

I suppose you could keep hinting around aboutit and saying itd make a great present

Tell them that you can do well and be successful in school.

Do those damn dishes once in a while!

You may find this difficult to believe, but nobody cares about you and your phone.
