How to restore my jailbroken iPhone 3G?

So basically I have an iPhone 3G that was running 4.2.1 and unlocked with ultrasnow by upgrading to the iPad baseband. My friend used my phone and 'erased all content and settings' in the settings and of course now it doesn't boot. I've tried restoring it (only to get error 1015 at the end), re-jailbreaking it only for it to hang on the pwning screen and I've also tried using iREB to install custom firmware through iTunes but iTunes brings up error 21 and cancels it. I then tried with another version of iREB and got error 1600. Does anyone know how I can restore my iPhone? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Added (1). I've already tried the shift-click restore several times. I get the same error

Download the 4.2.1 IPSW and restore via itunes by holding shift and clicking restore. This will open up an explorer and just point it towards the IPSW you downloaded.
