How do I turn off my iPhone if the power button is broken?

I have an iPhone 5 but the power button is broken and it won't turn off by itself now. I turned the auto lock to 30 seconds but it just doesn't turn off. Is there anyway to fix it or be able to turn it off. Also I can't power it down because I won't be able to turn it back on because the broken power button

If you put your iPhone screen down on a table, the display should turn off. Actually, there's a way to turn it back on without the power button. If you plug your iPhone in, it should turn on (once it has enough power).

To turn it OFF, use the Assistive Touch feature to put a gray button on your screen. (see link). You can use the button to do a variety of things, including powering off your phone.

This doesn't help with powering it ON, however. Still, when you plug the iPhone into a charger, it'll automatically power up. I'd buy an inexpensive power bank (lipstick-size, maybe), to keep with you. The phone will power up when you plug into the power bank.

The lock button at the top of my iphone is broken, but i have been using it fine as i have turned on 'Assistive Touch' and have been using the white dot that appears on screen. However, I'm worried about turning it off, and surely the white dot will disappeaer when the phone is off, and I will have no way of turning it on? Am I correct in thinking this?
