You'd have to go to your settings
Most iPhones (5S and later) will update to 11.4.
iPhone 5 and 5C will only update to 10.3.3 so no special steps are required, you have to have them pull what they think is the latest update from Apple's servers.
iPhones before that will only update to earlier versions and there's no way to get them to iOS 10 or later.

- Update stopped during ios update own iphone now phones broke I connected my iPhone 4 to my computer (iTunes) and started doing the update through iTunes. About five minutes into the update iTunes in my computer stops working, causing the update to of course stop working. Now my phone will not turn on. On the screen it is black with the 'charge symbol' as if it were low on battery and an iTunes symbol. I have tried turning my phone off and on, but of course it didn't respond.
