How do local companies factory unlock in-contract iPhones?
They claim they can unlock my in-contract iPhone 4s for anywhere from $50-$100. How can they do this I'm just curious.
Carriers write a file to the phone's storage that checks the carrier and SIM data against their own. Stores just use a system that deletes or overwrites this data, allowing it to be used on any network of the same type.
A general description of what goes on (and how to do it yourself) is at http://www.pcworld.com/...phone.html. The software may be out of date (it's from 2008) but a quick search online (look for tech forums, not something like unlockurphone.com, where it'll probably be "pay us $50 to do it!") will give instructions.
It's easy… Go here: http://www.unlockcellphonecode.com/
They can't.
- Will iPhone be off contract if you factory unlock it? Let's say… If I bought an AT&T iPhone 5 and I factory unlocked it through an online paid service, for instance www.imzdl.com, will the contract end? I'm not an American citizen, so I'm not so good at this stuff: P.
- Is there a difference? Icloud unlock & factory unlock? I've never had an iPhone, what's the difference in factory unlock & icloud? I've seen something about original owners, is it impossible for me to get an unlocked iPhone and simply make a new account and place a sim card inside?
- I have a verizion iphone 4, if i unlock it with what companies can i use it with? My contract was over with Verizon so I'm trying ways to still use my iPhone with other companies because i do not want to buy another phone.
- How to unlock a Sprint iPhone with the factory unlock code? So i'll be calling Sprint in a couple days to get the factory unlock code for my iPhone 4S once i'm donw with my contract, so what do i do next with that code to factory unlock the phone? And eventhough it's unlocked could it still only be used with Sprint or Verizon (since it's a CDMA phone) or can it now be used with networks like AT&T or tMobile?
