I have a verizion iphone 4, if i unlock it with what companies can i use it with?
My contract was over with Verizon so I'm trying ways to still use my iPhone with other companies because i do not want to buy another phone.
Cricket is the only company
The Verizon (and Sprint) iPhone 4, unlike later iPhones or ones for other phone companies, does not have a SIM card slot (it's CDMA only, not GSM), and that means it can't be unlocked, since unlocking is only something you can do on a phone that uses a SIM.
BUT… It *can* be reprogrammed to work with some specific carriers that also use CDMA; that's called "flashing". But as far as I know, there's only one carrier you can do it with and that's Cricket.
(For some reason even though both Sprint and Verizon are CDMA, neither have ever allowed the other's phones to be flashed to work on their system. So Sprint is not a possibility even though you would expect it).
Unlocks concern GSM phones, which this one isn't. You would only hope that it could be flashed over to other CDMA carriers like Cricket.
You can keep using it on Verizon without a contract.
- With major tech companies, how detailed of road maps do they have regarding future products? Such as Google or Apple. With the road maps that they keep a secret, how far out do they usually make their decisions on what to include in products. Such as, do you think Apple already has a very good idea of what the specs will be of the iPhone that's announced in September of next year or even the following year?
