How do Welfare Recipients afford new cars and IPhone 4's?

Don't tell me they don't have them because I see people all the time paying with food stamps and pulling out their IPhone with their pretty manicured nails and then driving their grocery cart to a nicer car than i own.

I don't know of any welfare recipients with new cars or iPhones, so I guess the answer is, "They can't."

Perhaps they had the new car from when they had a job?

As far as the smart phones go, it's cheaper for a family to have a smartphone with unlimited data than to have a home phone, home computer, and internet.

Internet access is NOT a luxury anymore; you NEED it for job hunting. Even McDonalds only accepts applications online now.

Perhaps they sell drugs on the side… Perhaps they had the car and the iPhone before the went on food stamps. Perhaps she knows how do her own nails. I don't stand close enough to the person in front of me to know how they are paying for their food. From where I stand, at a respectful distance, I don't know if they are using a credit card, a debit card or an EBT card. I also don't look in other people's carts, so I don't know what foods they are buying.

Haha like Help, all the welfare recipients I know sell drugs to buy those things too. I know a chick on welfare who got into art as a hobby. She draws like a 12 year old but she's still spent over a THOUSAND DOLLARS on art supplies she buys her kids all name brand shoes, we're talkin 100$+ even though they're 4 and 6. And then she complains about being broke.

My guess is that the VAST MAJORITY of welfare recipients are struggling to maintain an acceptable standard of living and that the one with the "pretty nails" you saw may happen to have a boyfriend with cash to spend. In any case, you should not be envious of people, jealousy is simple minded and one of the seven deadly sins.
