How to fix an Iphone that has been dropped in water?

This morning my cat knocked my Iphone 4 into a glass of water. It's been in a bowl of rice for about 9 hours but there's still no improvement. Is there any other way to dry it out?

Hair dryer if that don't work buy a new one. Sorry.

Have you tried taking a cotton swab, dousing it in hydrogen peroxide and sticking it into the headphone jack? If that doesn't work you'll just have to let it dry on its own or take it apart and clean it yourself which I don't recommend

:) you're lucky. I hope you buy cat litter for your cat because if you put your iphone in a bowl of cat litter, the cat litter actually absorbs the water out of your iphone. You will have a difficult time cleaning it afterwards but it is worth it.

Okay, So What you need to do Is, fill a sandwich bag to the top with white rice. Put your phone in the Baggy and wait 4 to 7 days. If this doesn't work, confront Apple and ask them. Hope this Helps

The rice is probably the best way to do it, but you definitely shouldn't try to turn it on yet. If the insides are still damp then turning it on can fry the circuitry. I would give it at least another day and then see if it's working.
edit- the rice has always worked for me, my nieces/nephews have managed to drop 4 of my phones (1 iphone, 3 other types) into water and they all worked again after a day or two in rice. If you have a hair dryer that has a cool setting you could try that for a while before putting it back into the rice, but you're not supposed to use warm or hot air due to melting/overheating inside the phone.

  • My iPhone 6s has no phone case and I've dropped it several times but there has never been any damage The screen hasn't cracked and it still works like new and the phone is as old as when the first iPhone 6s came out. But it's just funny because i Never have a case on it and it's fallen, maybe only 3 feet at most onto wood floors and nothing has happened yet. Anyone else relate?
  • My iphone 5 has been water damaged how do I fix it? I dropped my phone in some water 2 nights ago, so as suggested by everyone I placed it in the box of rice. However I was in a state of panic and tried to switch the phone on. It is now stuck on a solid red screen and won't turn off. How do I fix this? I would also rather not have to take it apart in order to fix it
  • Is it possible to fix an iphone 4s which have been submerged into water? I dropped my Iphone 4s into the toilet bowl recently. I did quickly fished it out in less than 5 seconds but i tried to test and use it for a while and a few minutes later it shut down on its own. The next morning i send it for repair. It has been 4 days since i send it for repair. Is it possible to save it? I'm really worried, if you send it for water repair does it usually take so long?
  • I dropped my iPhone X in about two feet of water in a shallow part of a pool for about thirty seconds. Has it been damaged? Two hours later and the screen is working fine and the speaker was muffled slightly at first until I played a tone app to see if it would help and now it's no longer muffled when playing music. Since it's water resistant or can be submersed up to 3 ft maximum and I dropped it in 2 ft of water for 30 seconds, could it be fine? Or I let it continue to sit in rice? Should I use other desiccants?
