How does iMessage work on iPhone 4?

Ok so i know its like texting but its free or what ever but i don't want to give my number out. So i just want to give out my email but would my Number still show when i text that other person & also will it send a notification to the other person when i switch emails or not? Some one guide me through this as you can see i'm new lol *BEST ANSWER 10 PTS*

Basically it works completely automatically and when you text someone that has an iPhone 3gs or better and you BOTH have Wi-Fi or 3G on then I message will activate automatically and you don't have to anything except register in settings but that's just like a back up if something goes wrong( it never does)

  • My iphone internal speaker doesn't work on phone calls but does work when hearing a voicemail? The speaker to talk won't work but will work to play music, but not while making a phone call. Or i could hear my voicemail but when making a call i can't hear anything.
  • IPhone can't send iMessage to iPod touch user with iMessage? At random times, whenever I try to iMessage my friend who has just a iPod Touch, where you type in the message will say "Text Message" instead of "iMessage." is there a way to fix this so it will always send as a iMessage instead of Text?
  • IMessage won't send to another iPhone with iMessage? So my iMessage works to all my friends that have iMessage except one friend in particular. He has iMessage on his phone and can iMessage all his friends but he can't iMessage me. We both have iMessage turned on on our phones but they simply will not iMessage each other.
  • How to send an SMS instead of iMessage, without turning iMessage off? Is there any way to send SMS's by default to one certain contact whom has an iPhone, while leaving iMessage on? My friend doesn't receive my iMessages even though he has an iPhone so I've been turning iMessage off to text him regularly then turning it back on because I contact others using iMessage. But I just realized it charges me a little bit every time I turn iMessage back on. So is there a way to send an SMS instead of and iMessage without turning it on and off?
