How does international roaming work for Verizon iPhone?
I have an iphone 4s with verizon and I'm in france for the next 4 months. I have my celluar data turned off to restrict all data to Wi-Fi, but when I got to france my iphone automatically connected to the SFR carrier here in Paris. I'm worried that there will be substantial charges to my phone, but if verizon and sfr have some sort of partnership, how will this work? Will i only be billed if i make calls within france?
Also, I have the global plan with verizon that says my parents can call me from the us Whenever they want and it will be free, as long as they call me. So how exactly does this all work with voice roaming internationally? I'm not using data except for Wi-Fi and I'm not sending any texts/making calls. Can someone please explain, I've looked all over the internet!
Here are the rates. The global phone service is for countries calling via satellite but in France verizon has local cellular agreement so here are the rates:

Why don't you search for such info on their website? Or better yet, call them directly and ask them how exactly are charged.

- What exactly does turning off Data Roaming do? Living in SK, Canada IPhone 4 under Sasktel. Okay so when I go to work located near the boarder occasionally I get a your now US roaming chargers messages. Does turning off data roaming remove all roaming charges like phone calls, messages, etc or just email and Internet like it says? I'd hate to be billed just because I'm too close. Just been turning off all network connections at work so far and data roaming is usually off anyway.
