How does one report a stolen car that was rented in france?

A friend of mine rented a mini bus to go visit Marseilles France for a week with his wife and kids and when they parked at a McDonalds to eat someone stole her bag along with the keys to the mini bus, wallet and iphone.

They are still in the process of reporting all this but how in the world doe sit work in france, does insurance cover another car rental or are they gonna need help getting back to paris now?

Anyone know?

The car rental company was called SUPER you and their offices are obviously closed until 8 am

Added (1). The car that was stolen was rented, the keys and things went with it, just wondering how it works, do they go to police about their things at the town it happened or wait until they return on a bus or train in the town they live to report it? Where do you report it?

I have read your question several times and to tell you the truth I find it hard to understand.
You say - To Report a Stolen Car Do you mean Stolen car?- or something was stolen form the car -
Big difference. It would help if you had received directly all the facts of this incident

They obviously go and report it immediately with the local police. They also need to report it immediately to the rental company.

Report it to the police locally where it was stolen, Also report it to the hire company. If they lost any credit/debit cards report that also to the police locally, to the credit card company and/or their bank.

You report it where it happens.

And what the hell were they doing eating at MacDonalds? They were in FRANCE, for feck sake.
