How does paying monthly for a phone work?

I seen that I can pay £65 a month (24 months contract or something like that) for the iPhone X but that seems too good to be true! Is there something I'm missing? Is it 24 months of paying £65 until I've to give it back?! Or once it's paid in its entirety will I properly own it?!

That's only for the phone. You need to pay for the service too.

Upfront you will have to pay any activation charges and taxes on the hardware.

£65 a month is a rip off. In fact, why should a mobile phone cost twice as much as a really good quality laptop - you're just paying for the name/status symbol. There certainly isn't some sort of super advanced tech in any mobile that exceeds that in a PC. If anything mobiles should be about £100. I bet they don't even cost anywhere near £100 to make.

Over the 24 month period that is £1560 for the phone. If you read the contract details I'll bet you have to pay for the service in addition to the phone itself, another £40-80 per month. Once you pay off the phone in 24 months you own it. You would still have to continue to pay for the service monthly unless you want a £1560 wi-fi only device.

  • When do i have to start paying my phone contract? Hi I'm getting an iphone 7 soon and i'm buying it in monthly instalments (its not a contract but its just for the phone) of 15 pounds a month. Do i start paying this as soon as i purchase it or after 1 month?
  • My iphone internal speaker doesn't work on phone calls but does work when hearing a voicemail? The speaker to talk won't work but will work to play music, but not while making a phone call. Or i could hear my voicemail but when making a call i can't hear anything.
  • How to get Internet without paying monthly? I don't want to have to rely on my iPhone for everything I need to do online and sometimes it's completely unreliable for things. But I don't have a lot of money at all for monthly Internet, nor do I have neighbors with Wi-Fi. I just want my laptop to have Internet for as cheap as possible. Is there a type of sattelite Internet service that's a one-time payment or a cheap way to get Internet on just my laptop without screwing with my phone's data plan?
  • Is the Iphone 5s worth paying monthly? I'm a College student, and I'm currently on a contract with T-Mobile with a BlackBerry 9720 (£17 a month). My parent's give me £100 a month to spend on clothe's, toiletries and so on, but I hardly spend any of it. When my contract finishes, should I get a Iphone 5s on contract for £32 a month? Is it worth it? I feel I need it for my school work, and social networking.
