How hard would it be to install a new radio in my car?

I have a 2001 corolla that has a pioneer radio with a cd player (So I'm thinking it is not the original tape deck one) but want to replace it with a different pioneer radio in the truck I use to drive because it is newer and actually has a AUX port and USB so I can use my iphone and charge it.

They appear to be the same exact size so I decided to take off the face plate and the one in my car uses a plug in that is on the left and the one in the truck (the one I want) uses a plug in that is in the middle. So therefore I can't just switch them.

What I'm wondering is, if I unscrew them and take out the wires and switch them out would it be that easy? Since their both aftermarket stereos and both made by pioneer I'm hoping it is just a simple match up the cables. At the same time I don't know.

I don't want to take it to someone to have it done. There's only one place I know of that does this but when I had the radio installed in the truck it ended up costing me $300 and the radio was only $100. Charged me for some small cable $70 (later found it on amazon for $10) and like $70 for him to install it. On top of that it took him 2 1/2 hours because he kept stopping and going to other peoples cars and installing radios and talked to this 16 year old kid about speakers for an hour and the kid didn't even end up buying anything. So his place is the only place who does it that I or anyone I know knows of. So I would lke to do it my self.

Can anyone tell me if it is just as simple as taking the radio out and putting in the other and matching up the cables? Or is mutch more complicated? Thanks

Also, the model in the car if it helps is a DEH-14
The Truck is DEH-3200UB

Its simple disconnect the adapter on back of the deck then plug it in to the other deck and finished

Simple as balls. Just take out the old face plate and detach the wires. Use those same wires to reconnect them to the back of the new face plate, and snap it back in. Simple as balls, my friend.

  • What is the difference between and iphone 5 hard case, skin, and hard case skin? I'm looking for a nightmare before christmas case I was looking in amazon and i would see skin and hard case skins. I honestly do not know the difference of a case, skin, and hard case skin in protection and cover. Tell me if one covers the back only, front only, or both
  • Professionally installing new car radio? I had recently just bought a 2006 Pontiac Vibe with the OEM stereo & I want to have an aftermarket radio that has a CD player with Bluetooth, Sirius XM & also an AUX input jack for my iPod/iPhone. That's all i'm looking to have done is a new radio put in. How much would it be to have it professionally installed? I live in Northeastern PA.
  • Looking for car radio.what do I need to get? Fiance' has a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer SS and it doesn't have a MP3 port in it, so I can't play my music from my Iphone in his vehicle. I want to get him a radio that can do this. He has an alarm on his vehicle, is this going to present a problem? What kind of radio should I go with? If I buy from a certain company (like Stereo Designs) will they put it in for us? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help. Any other info you can give me would be awesome!
  • If I buy a new stereo for my car with a USB port can it work in any car? My stereo in my 1998 transport just died. This surprisingly excited me. I just got a new IPhone and I'm constantly installing new music. I'm wondering if I can buy a radio with a USB port and put it in my 98 transport even though my car didn't come with a USB port in the radio. Is this at all possible?
