How long does my iphone 3gs need to be in rice?

Okay, so I was mowing grass today and it started to rain, my luck. I was listening to music so i put my phone under my but. Like i said it started to rain, my music started to stop playing, i thought someone just started to call so i didn't pay any mind to it. I come inside since the mower ran out of gas and i came in and took the otter box off cause it wasn't turning on, i ran in and took it off and wiped the outside of it off, i then put it in a bag of rice, i took out the sim card and the sim card holder to be sure it soaked up any water. I'm almost positive it only had about 5 minutes or so of pure contact with water.

The answer is a minimum of 3 full days… There are a few people that say this process can be done quicker… But I would not risk it.

The problem with drying out an iPhone is that the battery is not removable. IPhones require more dry time than most Androids due to this.

The trick is not to rush this… Every attempt at running your phone (with the possibility of water inside), is a __% risk of permanent damage. (Considering the price of these phones, why would you risk it anyway, WAIT THE 3 full DAYS)

You are correct to use rice… But just to note for other readers…

First… Dry the phone off with towels.

Second… Use a high power vacuum to get as much water out as you can through the various holes in the device.

Third… Run a blow dryer a low heat setting for a while in those same holes

Fourth… Put the phone in a container of FRESHLY OPENED rice and reseal as quickly as possible. (Leave your phone in the sealed container for 3 full days)

  • How long should i put my iPhone in rice after water Damage? I had my phone in my pocket and without noticing i jumped in my pool with my buddies, I stayed in there for about 1:30 minutes and I got out of the pool immediately and tried to turn it off but my iphone didn't respond so I took the SIM out and dried it and placed it on a bag of rice with silica gel packs. How long should i keep it there? Or should I call a repair company?
  • How long should I leave my wet iphone in rice? I was pouring milk into my cereal bowl this morning, and the milk container ended up pouring all on my iphone 4S. When it got wet, it wasn't completely soaked, but it's not like it was just a splash of milk either. I think the milk managed to get in some of the cracks. I really don't think it is as bad as an iphone being dropped in water completely, so I'm thinking that I don't need to keep it in rice for as long. How long should I keep it in the rice?
