How long should i put my iPhone in rice after water Damage?

I had my phone in my pocket and without noticing i jumped in my pool with my buddies, I stayed in there for about 1:30 minutes and I got out of the pool immediately and tried to turn it off but my iphone didn't respond so I took the SIM out and dried it and placed it on a bag of rice with silica gel packs. How long should i keep it there? Or should I call a repair company?

That sounds like an old wives tale to me.
Its probably screwed.
The worst thing you could have done was to press any buttons because then it tries to start and the water *** everything
You should have just left it in the sun for it to dry and then called a company on advice what to do.

It's probably ruined for good. Anything more than a few seconds and its likely your phone is too water clogged. Also the pressure of the water in your pocket as you dived in will have forced the water past the casual water protection it does have, which is intended for dropping it into sinks/toilets only briefly.

However, to be sure, leave it with Silica Gel sachets (buy from eBay) in a sealed box for three weeks and DO NOT under ANY circumstances connect it to a USB or power source until you are sure it is fully dried. If you have already tried connecting it, you've definitely toasted it. Any damp whilst power is applied will destroy the electronics instantly.

Yikes.

Well try for 48 hours, but don't get your hopes up. If that doesn't work you might be better off getting a new phone because the warranty won't cover it.

If your in UK i know people who fix it for £30. If somewhere else then its meant to be 48 hours, and the person who said 3 weeks is nuts, i work in this category. By the way i really think you should get it fixed by professionals as i don't think the rice thing will work after long water contact

  • I put my iPhone in rice after water damage but it's still overheating? My iPhone 4 was only submerged in the water for a matter of seconds, but I dried it up as much as I could and then took it home and put it in a bag of dry rice for 3 days. I then turned it on and put it on charge, but it'll only charge up to 11% before overheating. If I put the phone back in the bag of rice for another couple of days do you think this issue will be solved?
  • How long should I leave my iphone in rice for? (water damage)? So I dropped my phone in water today, it was only in there for about 5 or ten seconds before I took it out. The screen started flickering and turned off. About an hour and a half later when I got home I put it in rice. How long should I leave it there for?

  • How long should I keep my iPhone in rice after water damage? About 3 hours ago, I dropped my phone in the bath tub. Within half a second I got it out, dried it and put it in rice. It does turn out but it also is spastic. How long should I keep it in rice or is there a better way I can fix this? On* not out.
