How long to erase all content and settings on iPhone 4 16G?

I got a second hand iPhone 4, 16G (in great condition). Before I took it off the person they went into Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. I'm happy with this because naturally I don't want this persons info on my phone however it has been taking forever to clear.

The screen is blank with only the little 'waiting' circle/timer in the middle turning. It has been doing this since last night (about 18 hours now).

I want to know how long it would take if the phone was completely full of info (16G)?

Ask the person who sold it to you "WTF?!" and tell them that it's taking forever to erase all their data! When I bought my phone from this random guy, he deleted the data infrin of me and it only took 5-10 minutes.

I've done this before in the past and never had a problem, but tonight when I did it, it restored absolutely everything EXCEPT my messages and apps. Can anyone help me out? I've never had this issue before.

I deleted and backed up everything I could but I for some reason can't delete my mail even if I sign out and I just can't lose my number
