How much does the average American have to spend?

How much does the average American have to spend on things that you don't really need like iPhones, jewelry, and other things after food, taxes, bills, ect?

How much do YOU have left to spend?

For people who make $35k to $50K, disposable income is about 15%.So $400 to $750 each month. This includes things like internet and TV.

My fiance and I probably have less than 5%, depending on what you call disposable income. Is the money I put aside for emergency disposable? How much of my clothing budget is considered disposable? There's the money we put away for somewhat predictable things like car and home repairs. Also, my fiance doesn't technically HAVE to go to lunch with her coworkers, but to some extent it's expected. Then there's the 40/month we put way for things like our birthdays and Christmas, which might be technically disposable, but it's kind of obligatory. Essentially, we can go have one $15/plate at a restaurant each month hopefully about $100 worth or liquor every three months (That's not as much as it sounds like- it comes out to 6 drinks/week each, plus we entertain a bit). Plus our $30/month on internet. This assumes nothing comes up, which most months it does. We could have had more, but we opted for more responsible things like a dependable car and a house that is going to rise in value.
