How much is 500mb data of internet?

Ok i have no idea what '500mb' means, i'm thinking about getting the iphone 5 and what it says is '500MB data' and '2 GB Wi-Fi with BT Openzone
Anytime Same network'

does this mean i can't connect to Wi-Fi?
please help me!
if i can still connect to Wi-Fi how much do you think '500MB'is? Could i still use facebook?
thats pretty much all i use on mobile internet if i'm not connected to Wi-Fi.

I had 500mb a month on my phone contract. I use to download music, play games, have all the apps running and by the end of the month, still had like 400mb left.

500MB is more than enough if you have Wi-Fi. You'll be able to use your Facebook etc when your phone isn't connected with Wi-Fi. 2 GB Wi-Fi is a lot you know if you don't have any major needs. If Facebook is your only priority then that's more than you require.
