How to add a face to a ball of fur?

So I want to make the phone charms from Say "I Love You" shown in the picture, and I know where I could buy fur ball phone charms (I would probably get these https://www.etsy.com/listing/167431076/fur-iphone-charms-pink-fox-fur-pendant?ref=favs_view_9 ), but I don't know how I would make and add the faces and ears? I was thinking I could make them out of clay, but how would I get them to stick to the fur? Any suggestions would be lovely, and please be detailed, I'm slightly artistically challenged. Haha

Check out the (polymer) clay faces and other body parts that Garie Sim glued to fuzzy pom poms or to wavy/bumpy-style pipe cleaners (aka "chenille stems") made into more solid shapes. They'd be kind of similar to what I think you're wanting to do:

I've done similar things before and used hot glue since it sets quickly, pressing the hardened clay piece or other hard item *down into* the softer item/material while the glue grabs and sets. That gets it stuck to the very bottom part of the softer thing so it won't wiggle around, etc.
Sometimes it might be necessary to pull some of the fur/etc back to clear at least a little good space for putting the hard part on (with glue on it).

That would make the clay/hard parts sit slightly down into the furry stuff. If you wanted to have the clay parts sitting *on top of* the fur, you'd have to just glue them to the tips of the fur and let them wiggle around. Or you could do something more elaborate to make a little riser part behind the fur ball to get glued to the firmer surface at the bottom of the fur, or you could do something like sticking a few pin or nail heads, into the back of the clay before hardening, then glue the other ends of those pins/nails to the base of the fur balls or perhaps stick them in too. That might be enough strong connection to keep them rigid *on top of* the fur, but those methods would be more difficult.

As for the faces and ears themselves, you just need to make (or find) something that's the shape you want, then use a pen (pigma pen best) or paint brush with acrylic paint to add the facial details. There are lots of polymer clay "charms" that use those simple "cute" faces on fairly plain balls or disks of cured polymer clay so you might get some ideas from those:

(Many air-dry clays could be used too, but they can be a little different than polymer clay in some cases:
