How to backup iphone without using itunes?

I'm new to the iphone and although I can operate the phone fairly well I'm really struggling to use itunes, I just find it really confusing. I have a jailbroken iphone with some music and a few apps on it. I want to make a backup but when I connect to itunes and try to sync it tells me it will delete all my apps/music/photos etc if I go ahead with the sync.

Also, how can I transfer music/photos/apps to my phone and from my phone to my pc? I can't seem to just drag and drop like I expected.

If anyone knows an easier way of doing this that doesn't involve itunes I'd be really grateful. I'd prefer a 'drag n drop' method but it needs to be quite basic please as I'm quite old and not very good with computer things.

Is there anything I can do to get them back on my phone (they are still on my iPad mini), without using my Mac?

OK, my situation is that I want to backup my contacts, pictures, videos etc. Without using itunes ( I've never synced to iTunes with my phone so in order to update it I would have to ultimately sync and wipe all the information).So, if anyone knows a program that will backup all the information that I can restore from after an OS update it would be greatly appreciated
  • Does iCloud Backup Take up more space then iTunes backup? When I backup my iphone on iCloud it takes up 4.7GB of iCloud Storage. When I backup my iphone on my mac with iTunes it only takes up 2.3Gb Apple webstie says itunes backup will backup your phone exactly as it is and that iCloud only backs up important information. So why does backing my iphone take 4.7GB of iCloud space but backing up my iphone with itunes takes up only 2.3gb of space on my mac?
