How to consume podcasts using only a windows 10 laptop and an MP3 player?

I want to start listening to some regularly scheduled podcasts and I understand that this can be achieve automatically using RSS and some kind of podcast manager tool. However, I don't have a smart phone or an itunes account and I don't intend to get them either.

What I do have is a Windows 10 Laptop (with internet obviously) and a lapel clip size MP3 player, to which I'm prepared to hand copy over a weeks worth of updates (say) at a time, for mobile listening.

My problem is that I don't really understand the process by which podcast downloading can be automated, and particularly if you don't have an iphone or similar.

I pretty much only use chrome as a browser but I guess I could leave a different one running if that helped.

Can someone give me any advice please?

Put iTunes on your laptop… Then get your podcasts…

You're asking "how to consume podcasts"? Have you tried microwaving them? Or perhaps you can use a pot on top of the stove? (Are you really going to consume and eat a podcast? I would really like to see that one!)

Perhaps you aren't asking the right question, but having failed at "Mind-Reading-101", I can't help you. Sorry.

Simply, download the podcast and copy them to your MP3 player. I use itunes to get my podcasts and then just copy the files over.

You are looking for something called a Podcatcher, iTunes is the most popular and although it sucks, I have not yet found a podcatcher that works as well as iTunes which is strange because iTunes doesn't work as well as it used to. As soon as I find a better podcatcher I'm switching.
Other then iTunes being a memory hog, I can't think of any reason to avoid it. You should even be able to set up an account free

You need iTunes. You can set up RSS feeds for your podcasts in iTunes. I don't understand why you are avoiding iTunes. I have been running it on my home desktop AND laptop for a decade. I never have issues with it. I've only used it a couple times for sports podcasts but it works great.

  • Podcasts on iPhone using data? I have podcasts downloaded on my iPhone, but was curious if they d use data if I listened to them while not connected to Wi-Fi?
  • Opinion needed: tablet or mp3 player? Just needed opinions for this question. Should I get a 7 inch tablet or an mp3 player (not an Apple iPod because I'm getting an iPhone soon, so I figured I could double it up as a music player) I want a portable music player (mp3 player) but a tablet could also be a music player. A tablet would also be nice. What should I get? Why? What would YOU get?
