How to create a bright white background?
So I make duct tape wallets and was looking for a new way to take pictures of them to post on my Instagram. I've been trying to make a really bright, white background to where it's pretty much invisible, but to no avail. I've seen a couple of different people's posts who have done it and I think it makes the product stand out nicely. Since this is just for Instagram, I'm just using my phone, nothing fancy. It's an iPhone 4S if that matters (I guess if you list any apps). I have a white background and a lamp that produces a bright white light. Will I need more than one light source?
Just wondering if anyone can give me some tips on how I'm be able to achieve this.
You need two background lamps to provide a white background. Those lamps need to provide the background with about two stops hotter than the light falling on your product.
The product can be lit using a single lamp with a white reflector to fill any shadows.
Yes, it matters that you are trying to do this with a phone instead of a camera. You need a camera that gives you actual control of exposure values. You need to be able to meter for the correct exposure on your product, and lock in those settings. You then have to apply light to a white background that is about twice as bright as the light on your product. If you do not have such control of your camera, it will just keep trying to expose for the bright background and it will be grey in your photo and your product will be very dark.
No "app" can do such a thing.
You need the proper equipment and the knowledge / skill level to utilize it.
- What is the iphone app that makes the photo background white? I have the app whitagram which is good, but I keep seeing people on instagram using a photo editor that makes the background white, but also you can move the photo more to the left, more to the right and change the size of it without cropping it. I think you can also add cute stamps to it (love hearts etc). Lots of people use it but noone will tell me what it's called which is very frustrating.
- Overly bright LCD screen on iPhone 5? Why is my LCD screen so bright? I can see it very clearly-- except for the edges, it slowly goes into overdrive until it becomes way too bright & makes the screen look fadey and too white. This phone has been around for a while and was a hand-me-down from my mom-- is it time to replace the screen? There was not water damage except for a bit of rain on it, which I immediately wiped off as best I could.
- My iPhone is stuck on white background with black apple logo?
