How to create a pixelated character for a game?

I'm creating an app that is a game for the iPhone using GameSalad. I want to know how to make a pixelated character for my game.

Why does my iPhone 4 front camera take pixelated pictures and zooms in? After snapping a photo with the front camera, I can tell that it zooms in a little. Also, compared to my boyfriend's iPhone 4, my picture from the front camera are more pixelated. His are so clear. Does anyone know why? Or what I can do to make mine as good?
What software do i need to create a iPhone game? I've been wanting to build/design my own game for a while now though i've never known where to start or what software to use. Can anyone give me any ideas and thoughts on what to do or if there are any books out there that can help me out? I don't expect it to be easy and i don't mind if it's hard and time consuming. Thanks in advance. I can get all those things easily, they aren't the problem.

IS there an Ipod touch/ Iphone game where you create your own world or empire? I really want a game where I can create buildings and forests and put animals in and make an army then create like a world war 3 or I can push the world under the sea I want a game where I'm in total control. And I don't want games like Sims or Virtual Families. Any Suggestions?
