How to detect a spyware on an iPhone?

I have classified information for work on my iPhone 4S and I've been wondering can someone download a spyware on the iPhone and if yes how am I able to detect it?

Malware is rare on iPhone, although it's technically possible in certain cases.

Ask the security organization that granted you permission to put classified information on your phone about how to protect it. If they didn't give you permission, remove the classified information (although once information is stored on the phone, it can still be recovered with the right tools, so you might have to replace the phone to be completely secure).

  • Will formatting an iPhone remove any police spyware? Recently got my iPhone back from the police and I'm paranoid they put something on my phone to spy on me, would formatting and updating from iOS 6 to iOS 7 get rid of ANY spyware or files on the phone?
  • Virus or Spyware on iphone 3GS? I was checking my email earlier on my iphone 3GS and opened what I thought was a legitimate email from my friend but it turned out to be a spam mail. I clicked on a link and it brought be to a website about working from home and so on. I'm not sure if it had any virus or spyware attached to the link but is there any way I scan my iphone for this? Or do iphones by default not get any virus or spyware?

I became aware that in order to use Mobile Spy the phone had to be jailbroken. I was seeing if there was another software that could be used that doesn't require me to jailbreak either of our phones. and if not, who's needs to be jailbroken? Mine or theirs? P.S.
