How to downgrade an iPhone 4S from io7 to ios6?

I thought the new upgrade wouldn't be so bad but… Yeah. Is there a way to downgrade and NOT lose all my contacts/apps?

You can backup on itunes on your computer or iCloud. Then download the ios6 firmware from the internet. Hold Shift (windows) or command(mac) while you're clicking the restore button on iTunes. Lastly iTunes will ask you if you want to put back the backed up data onto your phone. Done!

I'm not sure if it can be done with official iOS7 but many people have done it with the beta version of iOS7.

Give it a try.

Instruction is here with the download link to iOS6 firmware.

First of all I'm no expert on apple (iPhone is my limit). Anyway I upgraded to iOS7 and after 6 hrs decided that either Apple is gone bonkers or I have gone insane

So YOU CAN GO BACK TO iOS6 but you can only go back to the last backup you did in iOS6 (if you have it). There's no way to just downgrade (you have to restore the phone which means blank new phone and then use the last backup when it was in iOS6). Pretty simple (but do at your own risk. If you kill your phone or something then go kick a tree)

1) First download your iOS2 (its a.ipsw file) from http://www.icj.me/ios/all#iPad34
2) Then get your iphone or ipad connected to itunes (update to itunes 11 otherwise it won't talk to your iOS7 updated device.
3) Once connected with cable connected hold the power and home button for 8 seconds or so when the device turns black and you hear the power off. Let go of the power but hold the home button until you hear from itunes
4) Now it says on your PC that your phone is in recovery mode or something. Fine
5) Hold Shift and ALT key and click on the Recover your iphone. It will ask for a file (point it to the file you downloaded in step 1
6) Wait and prey that everything works
7) recover from your icloud backup of iOS6 (obviosuly your backup from iOS7 won't work)

Worked for my iphone and ipad. Back to normal again…
