The beta version is for developers to test their apps are working correctly. Unless you are an app developer you will have no need for the beta versions. The finished version will be available to download from Software Update on your iPhone in a few weeks.

You need to register your device's UDID with a developer account through a site like http://www.udid.in/.It's $5, and then you can try out the new OS before everyone else. You can downgrade if you need to.
