How to fit a horizontal photo in a square-sized photo without cropping it on VSCO?
Hi! I just started using the VSCO app on my iPhone but I can't figure how to fit o horizontal or a vertical photo inside a square-sized one without cropping it so I can later post it on Instagram without losing the upper and lower parts of it. Does anybody know how it's done?
I posted a photo I found on IG as an example.
There's no way around it.
You have a rectangular image and to fit it into a square image aspect ratio, you will have to crop part of your image off. What parts you crop will be up to you.
Actually, it CAN be done, but there will have to be blank borders around the photo. In other words, the photo has to be sized so that it's largest dimension is no larger than one of the sides of the square frame. The resized photo is then "dropped" into the square frame. There will be no loss of any of the photo, but again, there's going to be some blank space around some of the photo where it does not "fit" the square frame.
Simple to do in Photoshop, if you want to email me the photo and state the EXACT dimensions of the square into which it needs to fit. Also, is the photo for printing or not, as that requires a certain resolution to be set.

By the way, fhotoace is totally correct as far as the photo not fully fitting into a square. Common logic should tell you that you can't make a rectangle into a square without losing some of the rectangle, (unless you create major distortion of the photo by "squeezing" it into the square shape).
Download the app Squaready, or something similar, and it will format it for Instagram without having to crop the photo.
There's no way to really do that without either cropping the image (chopping parts off it), or rescaling it - which will distort it, or adding white borders. - which I suspect is how the app you are using does it. There are several apps that can add borders to make an image square for instagram - go to your app store and type "square photo for instagram" or something like that. Then install one of these.
So whichever method you choose, something has to give.
Ain't no magic apps that can do the impossible. It may be surprising for you to learn that "there isn't actually an app for that".
- Why is my photo showing up as a black square when I post it to instagram? I have an iphone 4 with the latest version of instagram and i have been trying to put up a photo for a few days but it always shows up as a black square.i've already tried restarting my phone and reinstalling the app. Any ideas on how to fix it?

- Is there anyway to get photos back on VSCO? I had to delete all of my apps on my iPhone because of issues with my Apple ID, and when I logged into VSCO after redownloading it, all of the photos I had put on there to update and didn't post were gone. I probably have most of those photos in a drive or something but they won't be in as good quality most likely. Is there anyway to restore the photos or anything?
