How to fix my iPhone, it constantly says ''no service''?

It's not my sim card (that works perfectly in other phones). I dropped my iPhone (3GS) like a week ago and it says ''no service'' ever since. This has happened a few times - I've dropped it, it constantly says ''no service'' for a few days, then randomly fixes itself! But it's been like a week this time and nothing… :/

What can be done to fix it? I got it 2 & a half years ago. One time it happened before, I took it to a shop and the guy basically told me that once iPhones do that, they're basically dead, so I didn't hand it in for them to do anything with it (it just fixed itself after a day or 2). That was about a year ago and it's been working perfectly so I wouldn't exactly trust what the shop says

The iPhone uses the silver bezel as a receptor for service, inside the iPhone is a small metal piece from the motherboard (guts) of the phone this is in contact with the bezel, if the piece of metal is broken due to a drop or accidental damage the connection is lost, you may have bent the metal piece and only slightly damaged it causing your iPhone to only receive signal in exceptionally good reception areas, as the connection is weak between the metal and the bezel, it is extremely hard to fix this metal piece, I have rigged a broken one together before with some fine soldering and an old camera connection piece, take your phone to a trusted professional iPhone repairer, if he won't fix a new piece to it then it is unfortunately done for!

Get rid of it.

  • What to do when my iPhone says this constantly? Ok for sometime now randomly, my iPhone keeps on saying "sim card failure". I turn it off, turn it back on again and 5 min.later, it says the same thing. I know I'm not overheating it but it constantly says that and I can't text nor call anyone unless they have iMessage. Should I go to the apple store?
  • My iPhone 4s says no service I've had it about 4 months and it's been working just fine until this morning. It's now been a couple of hours where it's told me no service and has refused to let me call or send messages. I tried turning it on and off several times and I've been moving around all morning so it isn't lack of reception. It's getting really frustrating, please help me! Is there anything I can try?
  • NEW iphone 5 says no service? My new iphone 5 says no service. I just got it yeasterday. The person who was at the counter said that i had to turn it off and on every 30 min till it says Rogers (the company i got the phone at) but it doesn't say it. It still says no service. My sister got it at the same time, hers say rogers… what is happening?
  • My iphone says i'm connected to Wi-Fi but when i try to run something it says i'm not connected? My phone shows signal, it has a check mark by the device but when i try to open an app it says can't find a connection.
