How to get my Wi-Fi speed to be faster?
I pay for internet that gives me speeds up to 60mps. On my PC, which is wired connected to the router gets the speed always above 50mps. I had a router that was very cheap Wi-Fi gave me speeds from 10mps - 15mps and i got a new one which is faster and i can notice it just a bit but i get speeds from 15mps- rarely 20mps. The router is a Belkin N600 Wi-Fi dual band. I want to know if i can get it at a higher speed maybe in the 30mps for Wi-Fi. I have it protected with the WPA2 and i have a PS3 connected a smart Blu ray player and a Wii and also 5 iPhone's. The Wii is hardly ever on, iPhone's also rarely use the Wi-Fi, I have also tested the internet speed just using a single device and still get in the 15mps-20mps range so please help me thanks
The speeds they advertise on the box are in "ideal conditions", with no interference from other devices like cell phones, cordless phones, etc. In a normal household around 20 isn't bad. As a test, you could turn off all your other devices, and other devices that may be causing wireless interference, and sit as close to the Wi-Fi router as you can, then run some speedtest.net tests, that's probably about as good as it's going to get for Wi-Fi speeds.
Wireless speeds will always be slower than wired speeds.
Wireless signals are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc. Your latency (ping) may be 30 ms and wireless interference could cause it to spike to 200 ms or more.
As wireless connection quality varies the connection speeds are renegotiated. The connection may start at 54 Mbps and end up at less than 20 Mbps.
Different devices have varying Wi-Fi performance due to differences in the Wi-Fi adapters.
For example two different wireless n laptops located the same distance from the router may experience widely varying Wi-Fi connection speeds and quality.
Wireless connections also experience overhead involved in the transfer such as the encryption and decryption of the data used for wireless security.
Wi-Fi is great for mobility, but for high bandwidth or online gaming applications you are much better off with a direct Ethernet connection. For your 60 Mbps WAN (Internet) connection, 100 Mbps CAT5 Ethernet will be more than adequate. If you want faster LAN (Local) connections you could upgrade your equipment to Gigabit (1000 Mbps) and use CAT6 Ethernet cabling.
- Why does my laptop get such bad internet download speed while my Iphone gets 10 times more? My router is downstairs connected to a Windows vista PC. That PC connected with an ethernet cable gets around 90-100Mbs download speed. I did another speed test on my iphone upstairs next to my laptop, and it got 80-90 Mbs. But When I did the speed test on my laptop, it was only 10Mbs down. It's really annoying because it takes like a billion years to open youtube and everything lags.
- Laptop gets slow internet connection, yet all my other devices get it at full speed? This never used to be an issue up until a few weeks ago, we had a 60MB connection that was buffed up to 100, my laptop used to download at around 5.5 - 6MB per second, whereas now its between 2 and 2.5, yet my iphone and all other computers in the house still get the full speed. I have checked the drivers which are all up to date, I can't discover the problem, what could be causing this? And how can I go about solving it?
- Is whited00r 6 safe, faster, and does it allow you to get newer apps? I've watched alot of videos on it and it seems safe. I want to put it on an iphone 3G and an original iphone. can you get newer apps with it and does it make your device faster? http://www.whited00r.com/
- How to get my iphone faster? I have AT&T and well many of my friends already got the phone I asked them and they said their parents just gave it to them here is a picture of my pre order >>>>> Is there a way in which I can go to a store and just pick it up instead of waiting 2 months?!
