How to get rid of previous Apple ID on iPhone 4s?

I recently purchased an iPhone 4S off a friend of a friend. When I got it, it still had my friends friend logged on with his Apple ID. I can't download any app without typing in his password which I don't know. IS there an easy way of resetting the iPhone completely and starting fresh?

You need to obtain the Password for your friends itunes account. Do Not try reseting if it has iCloud Activated. Also you can simple go into the appstore scroll all the way to the bottom click on his email and sign out then simply log in using your apple account and start downloading apps. Hope this helps!

The owner of the phone must turn off the activation lock for his Apple ID. Otherwise the phone is a paperweight.

No, your friend would have to wipe it. They can also remotely wipe it including their ID on icloud.

Assuming you had an earlier iPhone. You power the phone off. Then hold the menu button and the power button down at the same time to turn it on. The phone will restore itself back to its original iOS. Remove the SIM card and replace it with your own, (if you haven't already.) That will set the phone to your cell phone account. Then, simply plug the phone into your computer with iTunes running. Install the updated iOS. Then, do a restore from your own iTunes account.

If you have already put your own SIM into the phone, you should be able to go to "settings", "general" scroll down to "reset," then perform a restore from your iTunes account.

  • Where could I find new previous-generation Apple products for sale? I'm currently in the market for a new computer. I love Apple products (My last main computer was a MacBook, and I use an iPhone), but I actually liked their last generation iMac computer better than the one that was just announced. Is there a company that sells brand-new previous-generation Apple products? Each time Apple announces a new product, I've got to think that there are shelves of unsold previous-generation products still to be bought.
  • Setting up an iPhone after resetting it without using previous apple id? Ok, so my title doesn't really make sense but here's my situation. I recently sold an iPhone 4 on ebay and obviously I want to reset it. However, I have been told that after you reset it, you'll have to use the original apple ID you started with. Is this true? If it is, how do I do make it so that you can use any apple ID to set it up?
  • IPhone 4 locked to previous owners Apple ID? I have an iPhone 4 locked to previous owner's apple I'd, the password to which he doesn't remember. How to I fix it and unlock it so I can use my apple id?
  • How to get rid of the Apple update from my iPhone 3GS? I hate the update - it has made my phone unbearable. I recently got the 4GS and still have the 3 basically as an iPod - it still works for a few games when I'm connected to Wi-Fi.
