If they are apps that came with the phone, you can't. If they are apps you downloaded, put for finger on the app and hold it there for a second. Then all the apps will start shaking with an "x" on it. Hit the "x" and you will delete them. This is when you are also able to move them. If they are apps installed on the phone when you bought it, you can always move them to their own page so you can't see them.
Hold your finger down on the app you want to delete, all apps should start shaking. Then tap the X in the corner of the app, and it's gone!
You can also go into iTunes and delete the app off the phone by not syncing it.

However you can get them taken off the screen by going to setting, general, restrictions, enable restrictions, and set a pass code. Them all the apps you don't want just slide the switch to off keep in mind that doing this will not free up more space on the phone, and you will not be able to use these apps unless they are unrestricted.
If they're the stock apps the phone came with, you can't delete them. Even if you jailbrake, all you can do is hide them. If you downloaded them, hold on them with your finger until a red X appears and the icons wiggle. Just tap the red X, and say Okay when it asks if you want to uninstall.
