Unless you have a satellite phone then you don't! If you have a satellite phone, then you unpack it, point the dish in the direction of the satellite, and take it from there!
Contact DirecTV & prepare to be shocked. You will pay an arm and a leg for service that is no faster than dial up. Using 4G data will be a lot cheaper & will be 20 times faster.
Thurya offers sat-sleeves for Iphones, but they don't work in the US. You may also want to consider a satellite hotspot, such as the Iridium Go. These carry expensive monthly charges, in the several-hundred-dollar range. Usually you will only want satellite phone internet if no other option is available, such as offshore.
