How to go about turning a song into a ringtone for my iphone 6?

You need a computer with iTunes to do it but it's not difficult.

Essentially you get the song you want on your computer, right click it in iTunes and choose "get info"
In the "Options" tab, there's a start and a stop time. Pick out a section of the song you want (can't be longer than 30 seconds) and get the start and stop time for it, hit OK.
Right click the song and choose "Create Apple Lossless version". On Windows, right click the new song and choose "View in Windows Explorer". On a mac, choose "View in Finder' and then right click the song file and "get info".
On Windows, right click the song in explorer and choose rename. Change the format to.m4r. On a Mac, under file name and extension, do the same thing.
Once you've done that, reopen iTunes and sync your phone. The m4r files should show up in your "Tones" category now and sync as a ringtone.
