How to have an online relationship?

So I've been talking to this guy on kik (instant message app for iphone) for over 2 months now, and we really like each other. We've told each other how we feel but now its kind of awkward because were not really in a relationship? Because we live in different countries and its unlikely that we'll get to see each other. But still, its kind of like we're in a relationship because we kinda stopped seeing other people, only we don't do the things usual couples do. So what should I do? Should i start calling us boyfriend and girlfriend? And how would that work, I've never done this before so I have no idea. I'd really appreciate any advice.
Ps: we've sent i've pictures of each other and we skyped once, so don't tell me too be careful, because i don't know if hes some 70 year old pedo, etc etc

Keep doing what you're doing. Talk on kik, Skype, email and by phone. You're doing well. It would be a shame if you never get to meet each other. Love will find a way.

Well since you live in different countries I honestly think this is a waste of time for you and him. I think you should maybe keep in contact but certainly don't stop looking for other people who actually live around where you live and could have a proper relationship with. Life is too short to put on hold like that.

I personally don't see the point in online relationships.
