How to make a digital photo look older?

I found the image (link posted below) online and I really want to figure out how (if possible) to make digital photos look sort of old like the photo I posted the link to. To me, it kind of looks as if it was taken many years ago but it is not "vintage". If it looks this way because it is simply a film photograph, how would I go about making a digital photo (pictures taken with an iPhone, etc) look like this image?

That's not really "vintage" as such, it's just a very bad photograph and I very much doubt it was shot on film (the highlights are totally blown and show no sign of a gradual tapering off, which is one of the characteristics of film photos).

To get that kind of effect on an iPhone shot you would need to intentionally overexpose the sky and tone down the saturation a bit. But in all honesty, that's not something you should be aiming to emulate. A monkey with a point and shoot has a pretty good chance of taking a better picture than that.

This doesn't look old; it doesn't look like it was taken many years ago and I really don't know what you are getting at. Go out with a point-and-shoot on an overcast day and take a random snapshot and it will look very similar to your link.
