Is what we look in the mirror or the camera more how we actually look?

Whenever I look in the bathroom mirror, I look good, but whenever I take a picture of myself, my bad skin and oily skin show more and my face shape looks uneven and I look like I have a huge forehead. I just took it with my iPhone with no filter on. Is the camera or the mirror more real?

I'm sure someone else can give you a better answer, but my guess is how you look in the mirror is how you look; under those conditions anyway. What I mean is, when you look in the mirror you aren't using a flash. The lighting in the room at that time doesn't accentuate any flaws perhaps. I don't know where you are taking your picture or what the lighting conditions are but I would guess it's different than when you look in the mirror. I suppose the camera itself also has different settings that could influence the color, brightness and so forth. A different camera might make you look different. If you see them compare images of the same object taken by two different cameras they can look quite different. One can be bright and yellowish, another can be more muted and bluish. So I'm saying that the camera can alter the way you look or accentuate certain things even without a filter.

It depends on what lights you use where ever you do your makeup. The best way to check is under different lighting that's why makeup artist have a mirror that has different lights with yellow, blue, or florescence light to see how you look in different lighting. Because different lighting will make you look different.

Uh yea

Every person perceives thing differently. I, of course, look at myself in the mirror every day, but while at times I find myself attractive, I often feel that I'm more physically attractive in a video. Sometimes seeing yourself in a still photo can make you feel like you are attractive or unattractive, light and angles have a lot to do with it. It all about how you percieve yourself.

The mirror and cameras are both deceptive.

  • Why does my face look longer in my iphone camera than in the mirror? I know that the mirror is a flip of what I "really" look like, but why does my iphone camera make my face look long? Whenever I ask people what face shape I have, they usually say round. Buy when I look at myself on my iphone I see an ugly oval. Help! Here are some pictures of me: iice.tumblr.com/tagged/me
  • Why do I look ugly in my camera, but not in the mirror? Whenever I look into my iPhone camera I look extremely pale, my zits look extremely red, and my eyes just appear "brown" but when I look into the mirror I look a little tan, and my zits look very small and not that big of a deal, and my eyes appear more greenish and hazel. And no there's no lighting of the room when I'm looking into the mirror it's just natural light. Is it just the camera that makes me look ugly? Or is my mirror wrong and my Cameras right? :/
  • Why do I look more unnatractive on iphone camera than the mirror? I was looking at myself in the mirror and than I looked at myself in the iPhone camera and I looked prettier in the mirror than on the iPhone camera/front camera Does anyone else feel this way
  • Which is more accurate a mirror or camera? - 1 Hi! I'm a 15 year old boy and when I look in the mirror I look pretty good. Today I recorded my face with the iPhone 4 camera and I looked really horrible. (X I laughed at how ugly I looked in the recording but now I'm worried. Is that how others see me or is the mirror more how other people see me?
