How to make a iPhone 5 not trackable?

I just found a iPhone 5 at a store and noone claimed it so i decided to keep it. I don't want to get into any trouble and was wondering if iPhone 5's get tracked even if you turn off iCloud and Find My iPhone. I've heard from people that they can trace iPhones real qick. So if there's anyway for it not to be tracked please help me. OH AND BTW ITS A VERIZION IPHONE.

It is of no use to you as a phone. It was reported lost/stolen to Verizon so you will not be able to activate it. Regardless of whether anyone claimed it at the moment or not, it is not yours and you know it is not yours and someone will eventually realize it is missing and want their property back.
Do the right thing- take it to a Verizon store. They will be able to identify the owner and return it.
