How to make a song in to a ringtone?

How do I make a song that is 0:56 seconds a ringtone and put it on my Iphone 4s? I have looked everywhere and it says to convert it to ACC or AAC i can't remember but it only allows me to convert it to WAV and I want the song to be the full 56 seconds not shorter but I don't know how to do that… Thanks

Unfortunately, no song can be converted to the whole 0:56 long especially with iTunes.
Unfortunately, the longest a song can be in a ringtone is 0:40 long.

What I did to make a song into a ringtone is I created a separate folder in iTunes called "ringtone creations." So what you do if you have iTunes is to drag the song you want to turn into a ringtone in your ringtone creations folder and you do have right click on it and click on Create AAC version and the AAC version will pop up into the Library section of iTunes. Then, drag the AAC version into the same folder as you did with the song you wanted.

After you do that, right click on the second one and click on Get Info--go to the Options tab. And then look down for start and stop time. Check both boxes and type in the start and end time for the song you want to create. Once you do that step, click Ok and you do the same thing as the 1st step where you create an AAC version of the:40 second song and it will go into your library again, but it will be faster b cuz it's shorter.

Then, after you have done that you click on the song that's:40 long and right click--then go to show in windows explorer and right click on it and change it from.mp3 to.m4r and there'll be a pop-up box--just click ok after you've changed it.

I'm not positive, but once you've changed it from.mp3 to.m4r, I think you can drag it into your tones library on iTunes.

I know it may sound hard to do and confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it will be easier. Btw, it's easier to have someone show you rather than to explain it, but hopefully I explained it well enough where you hopefully understood it.
