You could consider deleting a few apps that you never use. Also, if you click twice on the circular button at the bottom quickly, you can bring up the apps that are still running--it will be on a section at the bottom of the screen. Hold down your finger on one of those apps and they will begin to shake as if you're deleting them. Press the " - " on each of those apps to close them. I suppose they are similar to tabs on a computer.
Also, if you leave your iPhone on for days without turning it off while it charges, I noticed that it will begin to slow things.
