How to port my existing number from Metro PCS to Sprint?

Recently I decided to leave Metro Pcs because I hate it. Dropped calls, EXTREMELY slow internet, and too much error pop ups when I try to text and stuff. I decided to switch to Sprint and get the iphone 5. The reception on Sprint Network where I live and do daily errands is great (I live in NY),

My dilemma is, I want to port my existing number from Metro to Sprint. Sprint asked for the account number BUT while on metro, I was on a family plan with my mother. She paid the bills and everything, but I don't know if we share the same account number or not. Every time a bill is paid whether I use my number or her number to pay it off, we BOTH receive the same message with the same account number. Do we have a joint account number?

I don't want to end up porting her number instead of mines. Sprint also ask for social security number, so if I use our joint account number, will my social security number be linked to MY existing number. Is that how they can tell which number to port.

I'm so confused and want to do this right!

The problem is you are on a family plan. They will end up porting the whole account over.

You have to SPLIT your account first. In short, your mom has to get you OFF the family plan and put you on a "regular metro pcs plan" (just put any non contracted plan, ensure it is NOT A CONTRACT!).

Once she's got you off the family plan and you've setup your OWN Metro PCS account, you will then have your own account number which you can give to Sprint and they will only port YOUR number over.

So in short, get yourself onto your OWN Metro PC plan first with your own account number. You don't have to tell Metro PCS why, just say you want to split up the account because you want your own account, that's all.

  • Possible to flash a sprint iphone 4s to metro pcs or use it on straighttalk? Wondering if there's any way to flash a sprint iphone 4s to metro pcs? I hear they are both cdma networks. Any info if it works with all things like texting, calling, and data? What about using it on straight talk? Can you just buy that mini sim card and pop it in? I've seen the slot on the sprint iphone 4s. Can anyone give me info on both services? Much appreciated.
  • Metro pcs sim card on Sprint iPhone 6? Hi, I recently switched carriers and realized that my metro pcs sim card does not work with my old iPhone. I have another iPhone that is locked to Sprint, and I heard metro is just a service under Sprint. Will this card work in the phone?
