How to put iPhone 4 into DFU mode?

I've been trying for half an hour and all I can get it to do is take screenshots when it's turned on and when I try to put it into DFU when it's turned off it just turns back on.

Hold the lock button for 5 seconds, then the lock button and the home button for 15
Seconds, then only the home button for 10seconds. It may take several trys. Also. To turn it on. Do the same thing to put it in dfu mode.

To Enter DFU Mode:
-Connect your iPhone to the Computer
- Launch iTunes
-Turn the phone off (press the power button on the top and slide the power slider to the right)
-hold down the sleep/power button and the home button for exactly 10 seconds then release the power button
-Continue to hold down the home button until a message appears in iTunes saying your iPhone in recovery mode has been detected
-The screen will be completely black, if successful

*If you see the iTunes/ Apple logo or any message on the iPhone's screen you are not in DFU mode, try again (follow the steps listed above until you've successfully entered DFU Mode*

  • What happens when you put your iphone into dfu mode when its turned on? I had my iphone on and put it into dfu mode( i think thats what its called ) but i held down the home and power button for ten seconds and then let go of the power button and continued to hold the home button for another ten seconds. My screen went black and now it won't turn on! I plugged it into itunes and restored it. Will that fix everything. If not help me please!
  • My iphone device lock button is not working and i need to get into DFU mode? I have downloaded the ios 7 beta and occidentally erased everything off my device which mean it is now a 'New iPhone' set up page. I tunes is saying "the device is not registered as part of the iPhone developers program" I need to put my device in DFU mode but I can't because the lock button is not working. is there any way i can do this?   • My iPhone 4 is stuck in restore/DFU mode Okay. So I was on my iPhone and tried to update to 6.0.1… It suddenly just when into DFU or restore mode and it keeps saying connect to iTunes. I've tried to restore and it will keeps saying that an error has occurred. I've searched it on youtube and i've tried tinyumbrella or something like that and something else. I've also tried to get out of it the regular way. (hold power and home button) but it still just goes right back into DFU mode. Can someone Please help me?
