How to relax and unwind before bed?
I'm the type of person who needs at least 9-10 hours of sleep. I have my entire life and so has my mother. My grandmother was the same way. I don't know if it's hereditary or just the way I was raised. I've been known to sleep 12 hours on my days off to wake up and actually feel rested. I've read that in general some people just need more sleep than others. Some people can function normally on 5 hours of sleep. I'm COMPLETELY useless if I've slept under 9 hours. If I only sleep 6-7 hours I tend to take a 3 hour nap (unless I've taken my adderall then I'm on my A game) I'm going to try and get into a regular sleep routine by going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time. However with work and school schedules that may not be possible. I've also read online some things to help you unwind before bed and sleep better. But personally, are there any relaxation techniques you have found helpful to unwind and **** down before bed to help you get a better night sleep? Drinking tea, stretching, reading, righting anything like that that works best for you? I'm sorry about the "2 year old" spelling. I can't spell to save my life and my spellcheck isn't working for some reason. Any suggestions on sleeping better or relaxing before bed would be greatly appreciated.
I also require at least 9 hours. I count my breaths. I take slow deep breaths and count. It makes me focus on just my breathing and not stress. It took a few nights to get the hang of it. Other things that work are soothing sounds, no caffeine or alcohol, magnesium and calcium, using your bed only for sleep and romance, no tv, valerian, melatonin (not a fan of personally and no more than 1 mg), spray your pillow case with lavender, taking a warm bath with Epsom salt 2 hours before bed, cookies and milk. Try out these and see which one works best for you. Do not nap during the day. There are great apps that help. I use (iPhone) rest and relax and sleep cycle. I would not recommend sleeping pills. They stop working after a while and they make you drowsy. Hope this helps and sweet dreams.
If you can handle a warm cup of milk, it works for many; as the calcium is very soothing. Light reading, like a romantic novel should also help. Chamomile tea is also very good. Don't be on the PC or telephone an hour before bedtime.
A schedule is very effective, make one and stick to it as much as possible.
One of these has to work for you. >3
Honestly most things don't work for me. But one thing that does is to shower before bed.
I drink herbal tea (non-caffeinated), read, and listen to classical music. Try Vivaldi. Very soothing.

- What is the best way to relax? I'm always really tensed. I always feel like I'm being judged or someone's making fun of me. I want to learn how to clear my mind of all the negative thoughts. What is the best way to do this? Can you please recommend iPhone app for meditation or getting rid of stress. Or post a link to a video or website.
